we have about 2 more meetings before the end of February! 2 more meetings before the Sec 3s will start to take over.. FAST ISN'T IT?

19th feb:
Sec 2s and 3s
what to bring:
-the usual, Guides' tee and enrolment badge
-boots
-hat plus 2 safety pins
-WALKATHON CARDS!!!!!
-Consent form for Saturday!!!!
-attendance is compulsory, unless really very very sick..

4th December: Sentosa Outing!

Things to take note:
Time to meet: 7.30am
Meeting venue: in front of guide den
Attire: guides t with P.E. Shorts (those who dun hav wear normal P.E. attire)
Estimated time of dismissal: 3.30pm

Things to bring:

-your sandwich competition stuff (includes any decorations you wish to include)

-any other dry food to fill your stomach

-ezlink card

-minimum $20 cash (includes bike rental fee and entry fee)

-1.5 litre waterbottle (empty)

-poncho

optional items:

-handphone

-MP3 player

-umbrella

-towels

There's no need to wear your enrolment badges!

itinerary:

our main events are..

-Volleyball matches between patrols

Hey, we are going to the beach right? so Volleyball is the perfect ball game to play! no worries if you do not know how to play, YOU'RE JUST SUPPOSE TO HAVE FUN! hha!

-healthy sandwich competition (also your lunch)

yea.. each patrol will have to design/come up with your own unique HEALTHY sandwich! that must look good, AND TASTE GOOD TOO! you may wish to add a drink too if you want. don't forget, ur healthy sandwich must be able to feed 8 people! patrol leaders will be dining with their patrols for lunch (your sandwiches), so make sure u provide food for your patrol leaders too!

If you think that just the sandwich itself is not able to fill your stomach, you may bring some snacks, like fruits or biscuits or tibits, but do not bring food that will rot easily. you may also choose to buy food at Sentosa, but it's quite expensive.

-Cycling!

It's time to learn some sports! though most of you may know how to cycle, you can take this time to teach those who don't.. at the same time, enjoy the ride through Sentosa! AS A GROUP!

your ponchos are nessesary if you do not wish to get wet.. hehehe!!!

to all patrols:

Please discuss with your patrol members before the outing, 4th december, on your sandwich design. the sandwiches will be your lunch too.. so make sure there's enough bread for each patrol. every patrol member is to contribute!

but hey i only realised it's not easy to talk in front of a crowd when we took over okay! can't think and talk together, especially when i was always the quietest one in the squad with yuwei. lolz

Guides Camp'07. MISSES.

Okay guides camp can be describe in one word- slack. Friggin' 30minutes to bathe. I say, that's the time I bathe at home - slowly. And that's just 1 person - me. Ah well.

However, 1 thing I find different (in a good way) from other camps are the games. Different, looks-like-fun-and-probably-is, creative etc. Kudos to the Sec 3 for that. =).

HELLO! IT WAS GOOD TO SEE YOU GUYS AGAIN!!!! It's been long since we've talked so much into the night. Although it was really weird seeing (almost all) the juniors whom we've never seen before. Yes, definitely weird. Feels almost like a stranger even. HAHA!

Okay I am feeling very emo, suddenly.
I miss camp!
I miss training camp!
I miss our super super tough training camp!
I miss the tortures the madms used to mete out.
I miss the unreasonable demands the the madms used to make.
I miss the sadistic punishments our madams used to make us do.
I miss the grammar mistakes the madms used to make and me correcting them in my head.
I miss campfires.
I miss drills- under the hot sun nonetheless.
I miss cheering.
I miss screaming. To be more precise, I miss screaming along with you guys.
I miss running to and fro just to meet the 3 seconds timeline.

I miss the "STOP GIVING ME THE BUSHUANG FACE!", and wondering if Im the one. Or if the madms had just thought too much.

I miss the spying on us through the small window.

I miss the times when I had to stand up so straight and dared not move, even if the salty tears had gone and sting my eyes.

I miss the times when we were made to change to our guidesshirt then back to guidesU and back to guidesshirt again, and back to guidesU, and back to guidesshirt and back to guidesU and back finally to guidesshirt (dunno how many times) just because we couldnt meet the 10minutes timeline. GuidesU was hard to fold then.

I miss the times when we play simple games like CAPTAIN'SBALL and together, beat the other team, most of the time. Just couldnt defeat that one batch, everybody's too tall. Lol.

I miss the times when we sticked together no matter what, and "One for All, All for One" was kind of the unofficial motto. "Be prepared" was definitely not, hahaha.

I miss the times when we made stupid songs about our seniors/juniors -the powerpuff song- just to make ourselves feel better and to badmouth them in a indirect way.

I miss the times when we were (or at least, I was) so afraid to take on Buddy Hike because the story-teller was suuuuuper good and the stories were too realistic and reasonable.

I miss the times when the seniors were stupid and insisted on us being stupid as well. Ahh well, sorry but I still think that the "Fire Drill" was really really dumb then. There's a fire and we have to save our belongings consisting of the heavy bagsss and guidesU and what'snot?!?! We'll probably die in the process then.

I miss the times when we had to care about nothing and just tie knots in gadget makings, turning around in drills and playing games. There was no need for planning or having to look after juniors then.

I miss the times when I had to cook (for the 1st time) bland food and forcing it down my throat. Though it was really rewarding at times when the final product turns out alright or VERYGOOD. Example: our roasted CHICKEN! FABULOUS indeed!

I miss the times when we had to gobble down our meals and later discreetly try to get rid of the inedible food. Or the times when I learnt my lessons in the 1st camp, not to bring a big cup (or mug if you prefer it), and went to purposely buy a smaller cup for the 2nd camp. Lol.

I miss the times when it rained (lightnings and all) and it felt really insecure to sleep in the tents. Or the times when we spent nearly half a day building them because the place were FULLLLL of rocks.

I miss the times when guides would start at 730 and the few of us would meet earlier just to play or go to the playground or simply to walk around the school.

I miss the times when we had to stay back for daysss just to prepare for POP and our dance still turned out crap. It's oh my goodness funny when I think about our dance moves now. "No no, uh uh." LOL. Or (this popped up when we talked that night) when we were such misers we bought a 3dollars shirt as part of our costumes. HAHAHHAHAHAHAAH! Oh goodness.

I miss the times when the process of our sandwich-making for the guests was so disgusting, we dared not eat it ourselves. Lol. Or when we were made to eat tuna sandwiches so many times, till now I am afraid of eating them. It's true! I have a phobia of tuna-sandwich now! (Obviously, it's not as bad as the cats one.)

I miss the times when the madms said, "3 Volunteers!", and all of us would raise up our hand spontaneously. (Because the word 'volunteer' actually really meant compulsory at that time.) Later, the madms were tired of choosing from a squad where everybody raises their hands, and added a "Volunteer Yourself!" at the end of her "3 Volunteers." Then, everybody will step forward immediately. After this, the madms change their way of asking, it was now "3 Volunteers! Raise up your hands if you really want to volunteer." Without hesitation, all of our hands will still go high up. It was probably a reflex action by then, everyone was already used to volunteering. In fact, I kinda like it, running (check if classroom ### is empty) is really a release from standing still. Heh.

I miss the times when we loveeeeee punishments, especially pumpings- and would not only do them willingly, but also request for them. Ah yes, this is said despite all our complaints about the punishments/seniors. Those tough times were really, the things I missed most about guides. "Asshole Pig Lee Madm". Lol.

I miss the times when really, there was nothing to worry about. It was as if, the seniors can take care of everything, and we just obey orders. Days were so simple then, there were no leadership roles to take or decisions to be made. Just a simple "YES MADM!", "NO MADM!", "PERMISSION TO DISCUSS MADM!", "PERMISSION TO MOVE MADM!", "PERMISSION TO ENTER MADM!", "PERMISSION TO LAUGH MADM!", "BUT MADM! ITS NOT .....", of course, the last one only happened in sec3. There was no need to think, answers were standard.

I miss ETC ETC ETC. (Too damn lazy to go list all.)

Thank goodness for you guys, for the memories I truly will cherish till goodness-knows-when. Thank goodness there were no politics between us and we were really, so soo united I dont remember us having ANY arguments at all. Im glad Im in this batch. It has been one helluv an amazing journey. And I hope, sincerely, that guides will be as fun and memorable for you juniors.

It's been 2years since we left, let's meet up as often as we've met up this/last year. HA! I bet our relationships will be as strong 10years down the road. Who's up for the bet! 10bucks! =). Seriously, 10bucks! Im earning money this way. Lol.

Swiss Guides Annual Camp 2006 officially ended at 2p.m, today. Hope that you girls have picked up some camping skills along the way! :)

To all Sec 3s:
Thanks a million zillion for all the help! =D If you guys need help in any way, don't be afraid to approach me or other seniors! next year must recruit at least 20 guides hor!

FINALLY.

I miss guides! I miss my Sec 4s and the crazy whooping times we had together.

I really dunno how i should describe what i usually feel whenever i think about them, but i guess this picture will do the talking :'(

Anyway, it's been a whole year - this blog is really getting rusty! XD

I've deleted 3/4 of the camp pictures last year, leaving the pictures of the *erhem* younger guides behind. cos the pictures really lag the server a little. nono correction.it's A LOT! XD

AND apparently, i dun think it really helps -_-

Aha. Finally I come in here again, to sweep the floor, dust the vases, wake SENG LIEN up... hey! i your maid or what?

Anyway! The writer is here to blog about 18 June 05... which was a sunny day.

It was a bright, sunny day.

A very bright and sunny day. No clouds. Not many.

hahahaha. okay.

Anyway, TW and I met at the bus stop first, then we met Bifen. At first we thought she'd be late, but no. She manages to miss the bus! She smses Tw to say she'd be late! And then bus 188 comes! And we see Bifen coming down! Aaaaaaand... She SCORES!

Okay enough crap. Then we got on 187 and saw the rest except for the Lien, who apparently was meeting someone else somewhere else. And we went on, and suddenly I spot XX, wearing a... skirt?!

I was aghast. So was TW. Both of us were suakus, you see.

It was covered in purple floral print, somemore. And she was wearing HEELS. NOT HEELYS. REAL HEELS.

To quote Melody Bay, aka ~~Shakespeare Reincarnated~~ ~~Wonder Woman~~ The Fly: "you know it's a serious occasion when xx starts wearing skirts."

Then we reached our stop, and were waiting for the Lien, when suddenly...

We saw a vision. The wonderful sight of a fabulous womanly figure, wearing pink and white and heels, crowned with long hair playfully flirting with the passing breezes...

At first I thought we'd stumbled across somebody shooting a scene for a Bollywood movie, but I soon realised that was none other than our own happy galloping thumb-sucking volleyball-catching tail-wagging SENG LIEN. Our lien, morphed into a woman! We nearly cried tears. (Of relief that now she'd be able to marry someone.)

Off to the bride's house! On the way we were planning how to zhen the groom. So we went upstairs, put down our bags, and then we saw another ~~pretty~~ beautiful girl. (Must be our lucky day.) And I could hardly believe it, the bride in white, with contact lenses and makeup was actually our ms chua. sigh. So we gave her our presents and then went downstairs to our respective stations! to wait for the groom to arrive. YQ and TW and I were stationed at the fifth floor, so we had a good view of the carpark and them hiding the egg. And after several excruciating minutes in which I attempted to entertain myself with the car racing game on my phone and TW and YQ amused themselves by pointing out suspicious characters that might be the groom (guy driving garbage truck, innocent civilian walking down the street, lamppost etc) the groom arrived! in a suitably decorated black car. So we dashed to our station and I resisted the urge to shout Mayday! Mayday! and we waited for the groom to arrive at our station.

But suddenly we heard screaming from downstairs. They sounded like they were coming from the Lien, since our own screamer was upstairs with us. And I suspected something was wrong, so I called lien, and she answered it and sounded like the rest of them had been running a marathon. In which sense they probably were.

"They're coming up! They're coming up!" she screamed and I hastily told yq and tw, and we rushed to block the lift doors. And then I saw lift b with its #5 and screamed, "theyre here!" and we all rushed to link hands and from a barrier outside the door. I was forcibly reminded of the Wild Wild Wet ride. Then...

9. All three lifts. 9.

Oh God, they mustve gone up to the ninth floor and come down, I thought. We all rushed upstairs and were halfway up when the lift door burst open and a group of guys came rushing out!

And us being girls could do nothing but scream.

Anyway, they got to the door, and were made to drink DISGUSTING juice and eat EQUALLY DISGUSTING bittergourd. The groom said he'd puke. We looked like we'd puke. When I saw that they were secretly disposing of the bittergourd I nearly puked.

Then came the embarassing part. We suggested that they do the chicken dance, then we changed our minds and said Your Side. Then they said, how to do? And we showed them. And, IN THE END THEY DIDNT DO! grr.

IN the end they were let in and Seng Wee had to proclaim his love for Sui Koon. of which the most memorable was "I'm your Adam, and you're my Eve!" Waah....

And then we tagged along to Ms Chua's new house. Which was fab. ANd didnt have a tv. And we spotted this cutie there, the only problem is that he's four years old... then we went to the bathroom and yq and the lien tried to peep in. But failed. The window too high and they too short la. haha.

Then we went back to her niang jia in the sweltering heat, the blistering heels, the irritating traffic... you get the idea. We had lunch barefoot outside her house.

Off to the church! Split up since there were too many of us. And we managed to coup a taxi before the other group! ahahaha. smug. Then we were in the church, and were briefed by this woman called Margaret, who then called for a short prayer in which I noticed the most often-said phrase was Oh God. So we went off to our respective posts.

I am here offically as the Guides Cleaner Auntie.

*cough* so dusty... since march 11 never update you know...

Anyway. Since leaving Guides, I admit I sort of miss it. This despite the fact that I HATED Guides in sec 2 and 3 and couldnt wait to break free of hanataki and pumping. Sure, we didnt cry at the pop. We got lovely presents. Thank you sec3s =)

But sometimes, when the homework load gets unbearable, I sit and think of how nice it would be to be back in guides again. To be late again. All these years I've hardly been early or on time. Always late. Always forget to bring fak. Always forget this forget that.

I want to play captainball again. I want to choke on the fumes of a fire we built ourselves. I want to stand unmoving in a squad, perspiring like nobody's business, being made to move kekenan and keblakan again. I want to be able to wear my guides tee legally again. I want to attend another campfire.

But I guess... I can't.

We're no longer part of this company we know so well. We'll never be able to change in front of everybody, with someone being the door god, screaming together loudly when someone tries to open the door, leaving hangers around, dropping our uniform on the floor and not caring, tying and re-tying our stupid dumb scarf that refuses to be balanced-looking on both ends. We'll never be able to sit around the table, talking about nothing in particular, writing dumb signs and playing with phones.

Even if we should go back, we wont be part of it the way it was before. We'd be extra, know what I mean? No longer legally the seniors. Just a guest. A guest who is a long faded memory, no longer really in the now. Just somebody who was once there, but not anymore.

Remember when we first joined? When we tied our first squarelash? When we had our first camp and city hike? When we scared ourselves shitless at the first buddy hike? Water parades? Campfire at clementi town and shuqun? Remember when we had to go for archery, kayaking? Our sentosa trip? Remember the green thing at the back of the rifle range we called Anna? Remember our last campfire?

Anyone? Anyone at all remember? Because I do.

Maybe we didnt cry that night because we knew, somehow, that we would never be really separated. That we would always be the sec 4 batch, the batch that was like a bunch of sisters. Sharing. And that's why you guys are the best friends I'll ever have. I love you all. Maybe it's because it's not the physical separation that we're afraid of. It's losing those precious memories. That we'd one day walk past each other and not acknowledge each other. Like total strangers. What we're really afraid of is losing those four years of our life we spent together. Losing the memory of those times.

Dont let go.

5 casualties: Chin Yun, Vanessa, Seng Lien, Tze Wei and Melody.

All of us got bruises! Argh!

Therefore none of us will sit for any tests this week =)

hellllllllllo everyone!!!was and still am so happy yah!!!!!!!!!!hahaha yesterday 18 of the sec 1s came!!simply going crazy over it...cant express my thanks to everyone..especially the sec 2s and 3s!!!all of you did a great job!!and of course my lovely erhemhem sec 4s...hahahahaha
